3D Laser Scanning
3D scanning involves the use of a 3D laser scanning device to create a huge number of closely-spaced points which is called a point cloud. This comes to represent a 3D image of the surface scanned, and can be used by designers to position design elements relative to the existing structure. The scanning process can also be used to create an as-built drawing of project elements.
From the 3D drawing produced, sections can be taken through the scan at any level and angle, which can be hugely beneficial for the architect and structural engineer on a project.

Benchmark Site Engineering Services Ltd has been scanning around London for two years, during which time we have produced 3D scans for our valued clients, and we continue to be at the forefront of this relatively new technology.
